Massive fire in Gulmi community forest

A fire ripping through the Bagbazaar of Dadeldhura is spiraling out of control as a fire engine dispatched from Dipayal is yet to arrive at the incident site. Efforts are being made to bring the fire under control. The fire which started from Rajai mattress shop in Bagbazaar at 6 am is spreading from one shop to another. Madan Prakash General store, Baidhyanath cotton industry, Sidha Binayak Traders and another vegetable shop have been completely destroyed in fire while other nearby shops have sustained minor damages. Armed Police Force, Nepal Army and Police are trying to take the inferno under control. Locals are complaining that it is getting difficult to take the fire under control due to the lack of water.

The only fire brigade which is broken since a week has been taken to Dhangadhi. Police have informed that other fire brigades have been called in from Baitadi and Doti. Meanwhile, the locals have vented anger on the administration by vandalising the Amargadhi municipality office.

Pokhara International Airport Construction begins

The government is likely to sign a $215.96 million loan deal with China EXIM Bank to build a new international airport in Pokhara during Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s planned visit to Beijing on March 20. Baikuntha Aryal, joint secretary at the Ministry of Finance, said they were holding discussions to include the credit agreement on the agenda of the Prime Minister’s China visit. The government has already concluded negotiations with China EXIM Bank for the proposed loan to build the much-talked-about airport. The proposed site at Chinnedanda lies 3 km to the east of Pokhara’s existing domestic airport.

Gorkhaland is once again the talk of the town. Gorkhas in the Darjeeling hills and else where in India are once again discussing ‘when’, ‘how’ and ‘why not’ about Gorkhaland.

Last time it grabbed attention equally intensely was in July 2012 when the then UPA government led by Manmohan Singh as factotum for Sonia Gandhi had announced the decision to carve a new state Telangana out of Andhra Pradesh. 2 killed, 8 injured in attack on passenger train in SW Pakistan

ISLAMABAD---At least two people were killed and eight others injured when a passenger train came under under in Pakistan's southwest Sibi district on Tuesday, local media reported.

Urdu TV channel Samaa said unidentified militants fired three rockets at the train when it was passing by Bakhtiarabad area of Sibi, a district in the country's southwest Balochistan province.

Two aeroplanes collide at Jakarta airport

BBc -- Two planes collided at an airport in Indonesia's capital Jakarta, resulting in a wing bursting into flames.

A Batik Air passenger plane was taking off when its wing clipped the tail of a TransNusa aircraft being towed across the runway.

Authorities said there were no injuries in the Monday night incident, and all passengers were evacuated safely.

Indonesia has had a dismal air safety record amid a boom in air travel, particularly with budget carriers.
